I have 15 years of retail management experience. Trying to find a different type of job to change what I do. Any suggestions? No college degree here.

With that kind of Retail Management time under your belt, I bet you have developed all kinds of skills in customer service, employee motivation, finance and budgeting, negotiation and conflict management. You’re probably great at managing schedules and resources to their best effect, not to mention you may have had to be very creative in merchandising, display and promotion. Marketing departments, Sales teams and Call Centres are always looking for those kind of skills! Look at what you enjoy most about your current role, and try to go for the roles in areas where you can continue to use those skills - if you love the customer service part, try a service centre supervisory role, eg. If sales and finance are more your thing, go to a corporate sales role.
Yours is the type of role that really equips you for a lot of other jobs and careers, regardless of college degree. Don’t let anyone (including yourself) tell you different!

Hi, With having 15 years of retail managment under your belt have you ever thought of having your own business? I am with a company that you might want to take a look at and ask a few questions. If you would like more info please e-mail me and let me know you are inquiring about your own home-based business. Good luck to you. Terri T

With 15 years of retail management, your direction now should be to own your own business…my background is human resources with a retail establishment. I know from experience that sales is where you make the money. Nothing happens until someone sells something. I joined a direct market company, I sell a private label line of fashion and cosmetic…I love the flexibility it gives me. It’s no cost to take a look…..email me for detail information.
