Since nobody has answered yet, I’ll toss in my 2 cents.
Most metropolitan areas actually pay much more than minimum wage because of increased cost of living, but that would vary by area as well. In Sacramento, I imagine the typical base pay would be around $10 or higher in your area from what you’re saying. So you could probably apply for most any retail jobs and get similar pay rates.
If you wanted to find out the exact pay rate, you could also call any prospective place you’d want to work and ask what their starting pay is… most companies would be willing to tell you the base starting pay without applying for the job. Good luck!
