As I said, planning on moving to Honolulu and attending UH. Wondering if there are many retail jobs located w/in a few miles of UH. Ideally finding a room to share/job and have the school all w/in a 5mile radius would be great. Or are most of the jobs(retail type) located pretty far from UH? I would like to own a bike and forgo having to get a car if thats possible.

Yes.
There’s Ala Moana, Ward, and Waikiki. All are in the same vicinity, almost. Ward is probably the farthest out of the three from UH, with Waikiki the closest.

Geez, economy is bad, but not that bad.
Anyway, you can find jobs at Ala Moana, Ward, Manoa Marketplace, Waikiki. You can ride a bike to these areas if you are living near campus. You can also get a bus pass($40/month, but going up soon). I recommend it, because at night, it can get VERY dangerous. Lots of crime in Hawaii, so be careful.
Please tell me that you are picking UH, because they have the BEST program for your major, and not because it is in Hawaii. If you are young and going to college, I would not choose UH, I would prefer a mainland college. So much more to do for young people. UH is a commuter school, so most students live off campus, so you won’t get that same Campus Life feel like other schools.
Good luck on your education!
