When does Nintendo plan to increase the production of Wii so that it will sell at retail prices everywhere?

retail prices

I do not want to pay premium after so many months after its release. What is preventing Nintendo from producing the heck out of this machine? I am quite frustrated that I can not get it in places like Amazon for the retail price, instead I have to pay a premium of $100 even after these many months

I know that my local Blockbuster got some in recently with no premium. About the only way you’ll get one though is by paying the premium, or buying it in a bundle at walmart.com or gamestop.com

    I don’t think they will.

The thing is, Nintendo HAS amped up production - trust me, if a manufacturer has of one of the hottest systems on the planet, it’s going to be working 24/7 to produce as many as possible. The reason for it’s scarcity is not the manufacturer, it’s the resellers like ebay. As soon as a lot of people get their hands on a console, they run home they post it on ebay for an exorbitant price. How do these people get them ? - Maybe they work at the stores and know when they’re getting a shipment, hell, even the managers could be in on it - but the problem lies with ebay’s polices - anyone can post a Wii, and for whatever amount they want - ebay doesn’t mind, because they get a percentage of the sale price. Now if I were lucky enough to get one and were to stand outside a Best Buy or Walmart with it and auction it off, I get aressted for scalping, but on ebay, anyone can charge whatever they want. ebay needs to put a cap on what a seller can charge for an “in demand” item. Some people list multiple Wii’s - where did THEY get them ? I think there’s something sneaky going on with the retailers. They only see a small profit off these things, but if a manager knows when a case of them is coming in, he can easily “arrange” sales to “select” buyers, who will post them on ebay immediately. The manager gets a healthier profit (for himself) as does the seller and ebay. The only ones that get screwed are the buyers. The FTC needs to look into these auction sites. They do it with concert & sporting event ticket sellers, they should do the same with ebay & the Wii’s.
