Heart asked:
The city I live in is having a huge ice storm. The driving conditions are horrible and there are several thousands of people without electricity because of the ice. My fiance works at a retail store. I asked him to call in because I didn’t want him on the road and the news was advising people to stay home unless they absolutely had to get out. My fiance NEVER calls in to work and is very reliable. So he calls in and they tell him too many people have called out already and he has to come to work. They have hardly any employee’s there and no customer but insist on keeping the employee’s who did come to work as late as possible. They close at 9pm and it is now 10pm and they haven’t let anyone leave yet. Keep in mind the ice storm is still continuing and driving conditions are getting worse. Is business and money more important then the safety and lifes of others?

Ofcourse not. Life is one of the only things you can never get back. You can get a new job, but you can’t bring someone back from the dead.
In the case that your fiance gets hurt in transit or at work during this time when all advisories are up like this, you could probably find a good laywer to sue his boss for forcing him to work in unsafe conditions…

Unfortunately, we live in a society that pushes for the money and ambition. Thank goodness not all bossess are that way, though. Your fiance might want to check into another business opportunity!

it aint fair that he had to come and not the others. so if u really loved them lots and without him your life would be ruined than maybe it might be important

The question that you should ask is….Is his life worth a job? He should’ve just called off and taken the consequences for it. Businesses will always expect you there but the personal choice is ultimately up to you. I hope he makes it home safe and sound!
