That’s nonsense. If you are comparing sales over a period of time you can’t selectively include parts of the economy, or industries, that hurt or help your case. Retail sales include autos, one of our largest industries, and poor auto sales have a ripple effect on the economy.

I believe it starts in college, when these liberal professors inject their wacky ideas into these fresh pimply faced kids. They teach them America is mean, that all wealth should be distributed,(no matter whether a person worked 80 hrs a week for that wealth).
That to make everything even steven, taxes are a great way to distribute the wealth, there fore you can have the funds to give away to people and bring them into your fold, also called power.

First, keep reading:

Then, let’s read a little further:
“Gasoline pump prices hit an all-time high during the month at $4.11 per gallon. Without the big rise in gasoline station sales, retail sales would have fallen by 0.2 percent in July.”
Personally, I don’t think the fact that higher gasoline prices contribute to stronger retail sales is a good thing. I doubt if very many Americans disagree with me.
But, to answer your basic question, what does any of this have to do with Democrats or liberals? What does this statistic have to do with America’s destruction?

You’re a little off the mark here. The article you cited is an example of the mainstream liberal media trying to influence the American people by their usual method of twisting the truth. This isn’t really a statement that liberals want the U.S. to implode; rather, it’s an obvious attempt to promote the liberal agenda by saying in so many words “the economy is bad and it’s Bush’s fault.”
This is nothing new. Whenever a Republican gets in trouble for anything, all the media organizations made a pointed effort to make sure everyone knows this person is a Republican. However, when a Democrat gets in trouble, it gets buried in the story or doesn’t get mentioned at all. PRIME EXAMPLE: Kwame Kilpatrick, Mayor of Detroit, has been all over national news because he’s up on charges of perjury, influence peddling, assault, and threatening/intimidating city employees who wanted to file charges against him. Google Kwame Kilpatrick and look at the articles written on him by the major news organizations and try to find any mention of his party affiliation.
BOTTOM LINE: The liberals are doing everything in their power to convince the American people that conservatives are evil and must therefore be destroyed. Liberals constantly tout themselves as more intelligent, more open-minded, more understanding, and more accepting than their conservative counterparts. The truth is they’re no better than conservatives, but there is one thing that they are “more” of, and that’s more arrogant.
