Paul’s Next Wife asked:
I just heard a news report about how this retail Christmas season was the worst in 40 years. How can they say that? Every time I went shopping, the stores were full. I didn’t give or receive any less than I did last year. Do you think that retail chains overestimate their projected earnings? Why do they make estimations of projected earnings at all? Did you cut way back this Christmas? Do you think that American corporations are too greedy? Are Americans too greedy? I’ve posed lots of questions here–answer any or all of them.

I think it’s partly because ‘the bad economy’ is hitting in some places worse than others. If most cities have an average year and twenty percent have a down year, it’s overall bad. I think many people did cut back this Christmas. People don’t view Christmas as a necessary thing, before things such as food and water. Most people don’t give each other food and light bulbs for Christmas.
And yes, Americans are too greedy. And too trusting. So are non-Americans, though.

We are all too greedy…well most of us anyway.
We think we are having a tough time when we can not afford the luxuries of life such as junk food, pay tv, and that car we like.
We are so spoiled that we forget how very blessed we are even just to have a home (complete with a toilet!), food and water.
I have sponsor children who are just thrilled to receive something as simple as a sticker or a colored pencil for Christmas.
Most of us can cut back and still survive…lets not ever forget the truly needy.
