CONSERVATIVE asked:
Huckabee national retail sales tax of 23 percent?
Huckabee national retail sales tax of 23 percent?
Who in their right mind would vote for him? Who would regulate used products being sold by private citizens? The wealthy once again would pay the taxes on new products, and resell their used items tax free to the public.

And disband the IRS, right? I actually love the idea of a national sales tax.

If I were voting solely on this issue - yes, Huckabee would get my vote. I pay a whole lot more than 23% right now. And I don’t see any great increase in the market for my holey socks should this tax be enacted.

I’m OK with any plan that allows me to take home my gross pay.
Some of us are more interested in saving and investing than buying unnecessary consumer goods.

How stupid do you think people are?You act as if the only ones who will be hurt by it is the rich! You seem to believe only the rich buy new products………Realistically they will not have to pay any income taxes………Then will only have to pay for things they do buy here!
So a national sales tax is nothing more then another way for the republicans to sell-out our nation for the betterment of the elite few!

A federal sales tax is the only way to fairly tax.
1. There would be no deductions from your paycheck. You would take home evrything you make
2. You would be taxed on spending. wanna buy an expensiver car, pay the tax. Don’t want to buy a car don’t pay ANY tax.
3. Savings would be untaxed.

If your getting your news from Bloomberg, then of course a common sense tax plan scares you. I know I’m paying more than 23% now Plus the state sales and income taxes for a state that I work but not live in!!!!

The poorest Americans would be hurt by a national sales tax because they must spend all they earn to live therefore equaling to 23% of their income.
However I would like to see a national sales tax with only a few exemptions like food bought from the grocery store. After that everything is taxable even things purchaced by businesses.
They pay taxes on copy paper, I pay taxes on toliet paper.
They need copy paper to do business, I need toliet paper to do business!

i would think that the liberal environmentalists would be all over this idea. do you have any concept of how much paper alone would be saved by a sales tax? all of those resources could be saved for more useful purposes. all of the effort that goes into the smoke and mirrors approach to taxation would be better spent else where or conserved. if you take into account the hidden taxation, the average working joe gives up 50% to 60% of his productivity to governments be they local, state or federal. i would gladly trade in the 19% i pay in income tax alone for a NRST that taxes all fairly and in accordance with the constitution.

Nobody complains about State taxes! You pay them at the register and your done. Eliminating the IRS is a great idea, but I feel it will never fly. Reasons:
1) Too many greedy crooks that are used to ripping off the IRS. These people will never vote for something that will cut off their illegal cashflow.
2) The IRS is a huge entity, it cannot be taken away overnight, it would take years to make it happen and a lot of money would need to fronted by the Government to get everyone started on their pre-bates and by then a Democrat will be president again and put a stop to everything.
I like Huckabee a lot because he seems to have very rational ideas. Eliminating the IRS is a very good idea, but our Government is too big and it will get held up like everything does in the Senate. In fact so far Huck has my vote.
Democrats and Republicans need to work together rather than fight each other and come up with rational decisions. I’m tired of important issues being thrown back and forth because the two parties don’t agree. It’s like marriage, in order for it to work, you must compromise. You can’t make everyone happy, so we should work together to come up with palns that are “acceptable” for both parties, rather than this left wing/right wing crapola.
